Create Your Own Story
Filmmaking is a two-week intensive program to help teens learn to express themselves through stories and film.
Dates: July 29-August 13, 2019
For: Current 8th-11th Graders
Learn To Tell Your Story
The Filmmaking @TY program will challenge teens to not only find their voice but develop the ability to share it through video. Finding your voice, learning the core components of storytelling, and gaining technical ability to effectively express yourself is a great way to nurture our leaders of tomorrow. TY Digital Storytelling instructors will work with the group as a whole to discuss effective storytelling formats and film techniques as well as individually to support each campers session project.
Videography from an Industry Expert
In addition to developing their ability to express themselves through storytelling, participants will also gain the tangible skills involved in shooting and editing their short film. An experienced industry professional will instruct teens using Adobe Premier to edit videos shot using regularly available equipment.
Capture the Moment
Getting the perfect shot is just on part of Filmmaking @TY program. TY provides a one-of-a-kind Jewish environment, where teens interact with others from Jewish communities in the U.S., Israel and around the world. The “best of camp” at TY includes the opportunity to partake in sports, arts and Israel education programs. Each week culminates in Shabbat, amidst the natural, serene setting of Tel Yehudah and is followed by a wild Israeli dance party.
Teens participating in the two-week Filmmaking @TY Intensive will:
- Complete a short film
- Receive expert instruction from an experienced film industry professional.
- Come to understand the strategies and patterns of storytelling through film
- Develop their perspective in order to develop a message and have it captured by the audience.
- Become familiar with Adobe Premier editing software
- Develop their creativity, their voice, and their patience in creating art
- Engage with the Jewish Community.
- Realize a greater understanding of their own Jewish identities from self-expression.
